Availability is NZ-wide. Mary is based in Wellington and Brian in Auckland and they span the country from those two bases. Mary and Brian can come to you wherever you are. They regularly travel across NZ supporting schools, Kāhui Ako, clusters of schools and Ministry teams. They can also deliver from a distance. Infinity is on the distance-learning register of providers and most of Infinity’s resources are on-line and easily accessible.
Mary and Brian’s facilitation is adaptable and flexible based on the current situation within any given school, Kāhui Ako or region in Aoteroa. Their extensive international and national experience brings valuable insights to the PLD table about learning and teaching and supporting students in a world that is crying out for safety, consistency, healthy connections and positive experiences. Mary and Brian strive to support groups to understand the various perspectives of students, teachers, leaders and whānau in order to move forward with overall agreements and sufficient flexibility for diverse views.
The National PLD priorities are morphing as learning progresses further into the 21st century. National priorities started with a strong focus on building content knowledge in core curriculum areas and, as we approached 2020, digital fluency was added.
In 2020, digital fluency continues to be a priority alongside three broad across-curricula concepts;
- cultural capability,
- local curriculum design, and
- assessment for learning.
As those priorities were coming into play earlier this year, the Covid-19 Lockdown brought to the fore distance learning, equity in digital fluency and well-being for all students, teachers and whānau. As we move forward, the national priorities are likely to continue to change until we collectively work out strategies to address the volatile and uncertain world we now live in.
