Leadership Advice | Infinity provides strategic advice to leaders at all tiers in the system. National, regional and local leaders are deciding on the right mix of strategies for equity and excellence in student learning and wellbeing. Strategic decision-making is no easy matter. On the one hand, decisions centre on supporting young people to capitalise on the opportunities of our tech-savvy modern world. Supporting students to capture those opportunities is about growing confidence and relevant competencies to live in the modern world. On the other hand, decisions about safety and wellbeing have come to the fore as leaders deal with multiple across-government policies and collaborations, providers scrambling for business, a teaching force stretched to the max and parents concerned for their children’s futures. The prediction has proven to be accurate that our world would become more volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous. Global calamities, such as terrorism, climate change and, most recently the COVID-19 pandemic, have impacted our entire world. Having a highly-qualified and experienced sounding-board will help to deal with the highs and lows in decision-making about learning that leaders at all tiers in the system will face as we move further into the 21st century. Safety, wellbeing and collaborative alliances are paramount to success for all children. |

Collaborative Alliances | Positive collaborative alliances contribute to safety and wellbeing. Schools as organisations need positive alliances, as do teachers, students, families and whanau. Infinity facilitators, Brian and Mary, are renowned world-wide for their creative innovation in supporting schools and community organisations to form collaborative alliances.
https://www.oecd.org/education/schooling-redesigned-9789264245914-en.htm Infinity Learn Ltd directors Dr Brian Annan and Mary Wootton feature in this video as the lead design and facilitation experts for the highly successful Learning and Change Networks (LCN) strategy. Mary also went on to support Science LCN networks. OECD studied the LCN strategy as part of the Innovative Learning Environments Project and included information about it in the publication: “Schooling Redesigned Towards Innovative Learning Systems.” Brian and Mary were also prominent ‘expert partners’ in advising Leads, Across School Leads and Within School Leads in the Kāhui Ako – Communities of Learning policy. Their approach is to support Kāhui Ako teams to develop as community-led entities, to learn from one another within their communities and to learn from other colleagues across Kāhui Ako teams. Networking and collegial learning among the 25 communities was remarkable. Here is a video about the concept of collective advantage and how it relates to Kāhui Ako. Infinity used the concept in regional fora and national presentations to assure leaders that expertise and knowledge lies within and across their communities. The leadership art is to discover that internal expertise and spread it laterally so that all students benefit (link to blog about collective advantage https://infinitylearn.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/Collective-Advantage-blog-Final.pdf). External expertise is not dismissed by any means, it’s best to engage external experts a little further down the track as local leaders grow confidence to contribute to their community. |
